As Director of Corporate Responsibility he is a member of the management team of Otto Group and managing director of both the Aid by Trade Foundation and the Michael Otto Stiftung für Umweltschutz. A passionate campaigner for environmental causes and an expert as well as a practitioner of sustainable development, Dr. Merck has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung since 2006.
