For more than 120 years The J.M. Smucker Company has been dedicated to helping to bring families together to share memorable meals and moments. The Company remains rooted in its Basic Beliefs, which guide its strategy while inspiring a commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
As one of the largest annual purchasers and roasters of coffee in the world, The J.M. Smucker Company is dedicated to supporting the sustainability of the category. As part of these efforts, Smucker partnered with HRNS in 2012 to implement development programs for smallholder farmers to improve yields and support their long-term financial viability.
In 2013, Smucker and HRNS launched a project in Indonesia with the goal of increasing coffee yields by 50 percent for up to 5,000 participating farmers by providing them with technical expertise and organizational support. Due to the project’s success and visibility, registration has now reached more than 7,500 farmers, many of whom live in remote areas with limited access to training and best practices.
The Smucker/HRNS partnership has enhanced the coffee supply chain while increasing profitability and offering greater opportunity for smallholder farmers.
